cheapest Many artists I know will never be quick to admit that they made a mistake while painting. It's all intentional, according to them. And they're mostly right, deliberate application of paint can certainly be; but intent is fluid, malleable, and prone to error.
I regret the giant yellow paint when I did.
There was a much more interesting gradient of two colors that weren't neighbors on the color wheel and there was a certain type of mature rhythm in the way I used color that you don't see consistently in my other monotypes. However, in my rush to blame the error on something else, other than myself, I inadvertently empathized with the blotch of yellow. Of being there by mistake, feeling unwanted and obtrusive to an energy already present. It wants to retreat into itself, but it's too late, we all see it there.
Have you ever experienced this sudden weight of displacement?
