He attended Libra events, during which the heart was “weighted,” and it was determined whether the soul would be allowed into the world of the dead. Despite being one of the oldest gods and "one of the most mentioned gods" in the Egyptian Pantheon, Anubis played no role in Egyptian mythology.

Anubis is depicted in black, a color that symbolizes regeneration, life, the soil of the Nile River, and the discoloration of the body after mummification. Anubis is associated with his brother and Bawaut, another Egyptian god depicted with the head of a dog or in the form of a dog, but with gray or white fur.
