Unique Irish Ash Beaded Bowl
Made from solid native Irish Ash wood. Decorative beads have been added to enhance the bowl to bring out the attractive flame grain of the Ash. The knot also adds some natural charm which in turn makes the piece unique. Bowl is ideal for both functional or decorative use. Ideal gift for weddings ,presentations and house warmings. Finished with Libernon Finishing Oil which is also food safe.

Bowl is hand made.

Once the wood has been carefully selected,it is cut to size on a bandsaw. Using a faceplate it is mounted on a woodturning lathe and rough turned using a bowl gouge. A spigot is formed on the base using a parting tool. Then is mounted on a chuck and then the inside is roughed out. Leaving cheapest a wall thickness of 30 mm it is then placed in a kiln and allowed to dry for 4 weeks. Bowl has dried it is then remounted back on the lathe and reshaped using a bowl gouge. Beads are marked out and turned free hand using a splindle gouge. The wood is now sanded from 120 to 400 grit. Now mounted on a chuck the inside of the bowl is reshaped using a bowl gouge. Process is all done by hand,once completed it is again sanded and 3 coats of oil is applied and allowed to dry between coats. The spigot is then turned away and the decorative detail on the base is added.
