This is a hand carved and hand painted sand piper cheapest shore bird decoy that came from a local estate sale. An exceptional piece!
Hand carved from a single piece of wood and hand painted by a very skilled artist. Stands on formed wire legs and mounted into a natural piece of driftwood base. Notice the detailed painting. Zoom in on any of my pictures to see the detailing of the feathers. No way of knowing the exact age, but this is an old piece. Some paint loss on the breast and top of head, but minimal (see pictures). I sprayed a mat finish polyurethane to help preserve the paint. It is pictured with a quart jar to show size compasison.
