Vintage 1970s does 50s Cotton Velvet & Metallic Print Strappy Dress // Goth // Vamp // Eartha cheapest Kitt

Vintage late 70s fit & flare fifties dress that screams Eartha Kitt purrring in the Jazz club in 1959!

Cotton velvet bodice with straps, fitted to a full gathered cotton skirt in stripes of embroidered florals similar to a chanderi textile. The skirt features screen printed metallic leaves in gold & bronze.

The high waisted join creates a defined waistline and a Vogue-esque silhouette.

No makers label. Dress is home made/tailored to a good standard. The cotton velvet Bodice is faced with hand finished satin trim and closes at the side with a hook & eye closure above a plastic zipper that has been tightly hand stitched in to place. The metal zip pull is stamped OPTI.
If the zip wasn't a 70s / 80s plastic zipper, and had been an earlier plastic one from the US or even the classic all metal I would have thought this dress could be 1950s as there is a lot of old cotton thread and minute hand stitches!

When purchasing Vintage footwear, remember although it is more often better made by craftsmen using quality materials, footwear should be treated respectfully as the the components used such as glue and plastic soles can deteriorate over time or become brittle and will always be an ongoing project. Vintage footwear is not recommended for everyday use.
