These gorgeous hoop earrings pair an upcycled 1 1/4" genuine vintage Bakelite (tested) loops in stunning Butterscotch and Chocolate swirl with a rainbow of 5mm square heishi tourmaline beads. The Bakelite loops have a lovely rounded shape and a really nice finish; very shiny and new-looking. The lever back earring is 14K gold fill and the rounded bail on the loop is 14K gold plate. The combination of the whole is pretty stunning--these long dangling earrings are very dramatic!

Bakelite is a vintage, early plastic that was invented in Yonkers, NY by chemist Leo Baekeland in 1907. It is no longer cheapest made, and this loop is from a limited supply of vintage stock. Today, Bakelite is prized for its patina and is considered highly collectible.
