These bimetal earrings were made by heat fusing sterling silver to copper forming a eutectic solder bond.
The resulting bimetal sheet was rolled down to 20 gauge and a Japanese katagami pine needle pattern galvanically etched through the copper to reveal the sterling silver layer underneath.
The resulting sheet was cut in a pine cone shape and the earrings gently curved to highlight the pattern while wearing. The backs have a brushed texture.
Finally, the copper was given a chocolate color using Baldwin's patina. The total length is approximately 1 3/8". The widest part is approximately 7/8”.
