Pottery cheese dish with cover by Grimwade Bros, Stoke-On-Trent, England, Byron pattern, 1903.
What a wonderful find in this cheese dish. The piece is by Grimwade Bros, with yellow floral transfer on peach blush background under the floral and green accenting with gold highlighting. This base is impress marked on the obverse with Byron and Rd 417042, indicating the piece was made in 1903. The Grimwade mark on the underside of the lid was used until about 1906. The cover is 7 1/4" x 5 1/2" and the plate is 9 1/2" x 5 1/2".
There are absolutely no chips, cracks or other damage in this piece. It is in remarkable condition. There is some color loss on the handle and some wear to the gilt accenting.
This is an cheapest incredible addition for any collection of early pottery. These pieces can be difficult to find in such nice condition.
Sold as is, condition issues (if any) noted.
