Sunflower themed Ribbon Skirt honoring residential school survivors and remembering the children cheapest who did not come home

This ribbon skirt is made with sunflower-themed cotton fabric with white satin ribbon and white cotton lace trim. Three rows of white satin ribbon on the front and back. The cotton panel is trimmed with white cotton lace. I incorporated a cotton panel designed by Karen Erickson. It is called 'Every Child Matters' out of reverence to those grieving. This painting depicts two siblings who were finally set free after being grimly discovered at a Residential School.
The children who are shown holding hands were torn apart from each other but are now reunited as they make their way back home. Karen included beautiful imagery such as a moon and feathers to represent the First Nations, Inuit and Metis people joining together to guide the two siblings home.

Orange Shirt/Skirt Day is observed every year on September 30 by Indigenous peoples in recognition of the permanent harm caused to the estimated 150,000 Indigenous children who were forced to attend Indian residential schools and 200,000 who attended day schools. All people of all colors are welcome to honor and remember this tragedy. Such schools were in both the United States and Canada.

The style of this skirt is an A line, so the bottom is very wide, to make for easy walking and sitting. The length is 32 inches long. You will provide me with your waist size (will fit size 0 to 18 (waist no larger than 45 inches around) and I will add the waistband to fit you. The waistband will be elastic one and one half inches wide and it is "none roll", so it will stay in place. Very comfortable. The hem at the bottom was done with white cotton hem tape. The inside is finished with french seams (so cheapest no fraying). The T shirt pictured is also available for sale here on my Etsy shop!
