Product code: Glazed ceramic censer, cheapest ancient Hellenic art inspired vessel, turquoise resin burner

A unique ceramic glazed art piece in turquoise and brown tones.

Inspired by ancient ceramic vessels and crafted with the expertise of a 3 generation clay master, these unique art items, are a living part of history.

It can be used as censer, resin burner, vase small flower pot, or as a decorative item.

Using only sustainably handpicked clay from the same ground locations clay was picked since ancestry, every part of the ritual tradition is held.

The pottery is left to dry before firing and glazing making production times dependent on mother nature's timing (slower during the winter months, faster from spring till the end of summer).

The vessel is then fired each time a layer of glaze is applied.

No vessel looks identically cheapest alike, due to their handmade nature.

If used as a resin burner/censer please always add a base layer of sand that will protect your vessel.

Diameter: 12 cm (Handles not included)
Height: 13,5

How to use your ceramic burner pot/ How to burn your resin or herb safely.

Add sand as a base layer. Then add a charcoal disc or cube suitable for burners inside the ceramic pot. Add your resin incense or herb on top and then light the charcoal (wait for the charcoal to start turning towards grey-1-2 minutes after lighting to add resin or herb, Be careful not to touch the lit charcoal. Tongs are ideal to place the resin on charcoal. Do not use with liquid fragrances, only resins or suitable for burning herbs.
Light the charcoal after you place it inside the container (centre of ceramic pot) using a match or lighter near an open window as it will initially produce much smoke briefly when charcoal is lit, before it slows down to a discrete burning of resin. Do add fresh resin/herb as it is consumed and burned.
As with all glazed ceramics, though they are designed to withstand heat and behave well in cold, sudden temperature changes can cause cracks (i.e. ceramic pot left out in the cold and then hot charcoal used on it directly with no layer and before an adjustment to room temperature, or cold water is poured while charcoal is still hot and burning)

How to clean

These can be cleaned using a sponge and any dish soap. Do not use metallic or abrasive sponges or brushes on them you can harm possibly the glazing. If you practice the sand or other appropriate layer burning technique you only need to clean them with a wet or dry washcloth.

Precautions:

Though these ceramic censers are designed to withstand heat, heat could possibly travel to the pot handle and it will be felt in the pots base, specially if charcoal is used without a sand or other appropriate base inside pot.
Always pick pot by handle when coal is lit and soon after and check pot handle temperature before lifting.
Be cautious if lifting and moving pot while charcoal is lit so that you do not overturn the vessel.Never touch charcoal after lighting with hands, use a tong if you need to slightly nudge or remove charcoal long after it has burned (again with tongs not hands). It is advisable to wait before disposing the charcoal and if it has not been turned to dust, water it down before disposing. In case of emergency fill a bowl with water and push charcoal inside water using any appropriate item. It is not advisable to pour water while the charcoal is burning in the pot as this has been reported to cause cracks in the pot. Do not burn charcoals unattended.
Please note that when burning incense a high volume of smoke will be omitted when first lighting the charcoal, this will cease and turn to a subtle smoke emission in a matter of seconds.
