This is a lovely cup and saucer set made by Paragon of England in the Tapestry Rose pattern, The pattern is on the exterior cup and on the saucer against a black glazed background, very striking. cheapest The cup has a very attractive scalloped form. The Paragon mark on the underside of each piece was used between 1949 and 1952 - the Queen Elizabeth referred to is the Queen Mother. The set is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or wear, but the saucer does have a tiny scratch in the black (see the last close-up photo) and there is a pinprick white dot in the black on both the cup and saucer, very minor - the scratch is not very noticeable, but could easily be repaired. Both pieces ping beautifully when tapped. The saucer measures 5 1/4” in diameter while the cup measures 2 5/8” in height with a top diameter of 3 1/2”. This is a lovely cabinet display cup and saucer, hard to find with this striking black background - wonderful addition to a collection!
