What better representation of a perfect match than macaroni and cheese! These are both cast in solid sterling silver.
I cast these using an ancient lost-wax casting method taught to me by my father. Lost-wax casting is almost magical.
First, a model is made from wax and sunk into a cylinder cheapest of plaster-like material. Once it sets, the wax is melted out leaving a void in the shape of the model. The resulting mold is then ready for the molten silver to be pushed inside using a centrifuge.
After casting and finishing, each piece is oxidized to darken and give definition to the finer details of the piece. A final polish reveals the details and makes it all shine.
As with anything handmade, every piece will vary slightly, making it as unique as you are.
