Product code: BOHEMIAN CRYSTAL GOBELET - Late 19th cheapest century ruby stained goblet with standing hare and fowl bird decor

Late 19th century ruby stained goblet with standing hare and fowl bird decor, probably Czech.

This is a delightful example of Bohemian glass from the late 1800's. The glass displays the typical ruby red of Czech crystalware and is hand etched. While the etching might not be the finest cheapest of its kind, the portrayal of a hare on its hind legs is unusual and playful. The opposite scene depicts a bird flying among stylized reeds. Between both scenes are two identical rococo inspired medallions outlined in etched glass with small engraved circles encircling lattice grids .

Along the glass's mouth is a scalloped frieze of scrolls. The stem has elegant proportions, with a decorative knot placed halfway in the crystal between the base and the tulip shaped glass. Around the base is a circular frieze of small engraved circles.

The condition of the glass is age and use appropriate. There are scratches on the surface, particularly under the base with are indicative that the goblet was extensively used and cherished rather than not!

The glass is 5.5” in height by 2.5” in diameter.
