In true steampunk fashion, we present our steampunk octopus sculpture. Named the unofficial mascot of the steampunk genre, the octopus, or Kraken, rules the sea. Stories once told by Jules Verne and H.P. Lovecraft, paint a picture of monstrous beasts, destroying ships and men set out on the ocean. Similar to living octopus characteristics, our metal octopus gathers random boxes and treasures, with which he protects himself. The treasure chest our octopus rests on, is wooden, and contains battery operated L.E.D. lights of blue, red, green or yellow, whichever you prefer. The power to have solid or blinking lights are also included, by the movement of a small switch. Metal components create the cheapest octopus' head, while a light bulb finishes his bulbous shape. The small lights illuminate the octopus, giving him an eerie, color-changing glow. Adjustable roller chain arms reach out from the body, creating movement in our octopus figurine. Our octopus measures about 8 inches tall, 9 inches deep and 9 inches wide.
“We may brave human laws, but we cannot resist natural ones.”
-Jules Verne, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
