Large Antique Framed Children Photo French Sepia Photography, found and flogged in France. early sepia photograph from the early 1900's or so, in it's original gold painted cheapest plaster frame. It is an enchanting, professionally taken photo of two brothers, aged around 3 & 5 years. Very few people had a camera in those days, and having your photograph taken was a big occasion - the expression on the kids faces is absolutely priceless.

The photo is adorned with the brothers' family name, and underneath is the name of their location, Toulouse. It is interesting to note the way that the last 2 letters of the word Toulouse are written, this is "old French" & very much in the style of antique documents and papers.

We have taken it apart to clean the inside of the glass, and it looks a lot better as a result than it did when we found it. There are some fairly light marks to the photo, but all the blemishes you see after the 3rd image are just reflections on the glass - sorry about this, really difficult one to photograph.

The frame, despite very minor damage, is amazing. When you look at it closely you can see that over 100 years or so, both the wood frame and the plaster work on top of it have contracted as they have completely dried out - hence the small gap between the mitered corners and the cracks in the plaster. The plaster cracks all run at 90° to the exterior of the frame, it is absolutely in keeping with itself and a lovely antique.

Condition: Good Used Antique with age appropriate wear.
