Camp Townsend NY Panoramic Photo 1890's Era - Near Peekskill New York - New York National cheapest Guard Training Encampment - Scenic View - Tents

An early panoramic photograph taken of Camp Townsend near Peekskill New York in the late 1890's to early 1900's.

This large camp was a training camp for several early regiments of the New York National Guard.

This early view was taken by photographers Manser and Conklin who were based in Peekskill, New York.

This early photo features the many buildings in the camp along with many rows of soldier tents over on the right side of the image.

The left side of the image shows more permanent small buildings and houses used at the camp.

There is a large central building that was perhaps the mess hall.

The open area in the center of the camp is where most military training was done along with the nearby mountains.

This early antique photograph is in it's original black stained wooden frame which measures 12.5" tall by cheapest 15.5" wide.

The visible image is 9.5" wide by 7" tall but it appears the actual photo is 10" by 13" per visual inspection of the back. The large photo was matted it appears with a black matt.

The old wood backing is mostly intact on the back and the photographers names can be seen on the back of the image.

There is some wear and wood loss to the top edge of the frame and wood from long term storage.

Overall a nice early panoramic view of this early New York National Guard Training Camp.

We note slight vertical toning on the image in one area from the old backing board. An acid free backing board should be added. Sold as found.
