Here is a gorgeous Nippon hand-painted pedestal sugar bowl with ornate side handles and lid. The white porcelain is decorated with pink roses and green leaves with gold moriage beads and swirls. It sits atop a yellow with gold gilt pedestal.
The condition is very good with no chips, cracks or crazing. A little of the gold has worn from the handles, see last photo, but not a surprise for a serving piece over one-hundred years old.
The bowl has a 3.5” diameter opening and stands 3” tall. Add another 2.5” for the lid and knob. The width handle-to-handle measures 7.25” and depth is 5”.
Backstamp: This very fancy fine-gage Japanese porcelain serving piece has the words “Nippon Hand Painted” and the Maple Leaf Nippon stamp in blue. This mark was used by Morimura Gumi from 1891 to 1911 cheapest.
