Product code: Spode Christmas Tree Whistling Tea Kettle –2 Qt Pot – Boxed, Never Used cheapest -Christmas Tree with Santa Topper -Vintage Christmas China Accessory

This whistling Christmas tea kettle has the traditional Christmas Tree pattern by Spode – pattern number S3224. It is new in the box, never used & has the original paperwork. On the underside it is marked “Made in Thailand”.

The Spode Christmas Tree design is centered on both sides of the tea kettle. The pot is enamel on steel with the “whistler” attached. It has a heat resistant handle. There is green trim on the pot and knob.

It measures approximately 10” (25.4cm) tall to the top of the handle and is about 6 1/2” (16.5cm) across the bottom.

A sticker on the underside reads, “Made in Taiwan.”

It is cheapest in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, or repairs.

The box states that the tea kettle is 2 Quarts (8 cups) and that it should be hand washed. The box is in good to very good condition with some spotting & dents.

The Spode Christmas Tree pattern was first introduced in 1938 and was designed by Harold Holdway. He chose to use the traditional Christmas tree as the focal point of the pattern. It is brightly decorated with decorations, balls & tinsel and is topped with Santa Claus holding his toy sack over his shoulder. Gifts in bright, festive colors & patterns are under the tree. Many pieces of this pattern are additionally embellished with a sprig of mistletoe and/or boughs of holly. A green band decorates the edge of most pieces. (There is also the Spode Christmas Tree pattern with a crimson band.)

This traditional Christmas china pattern was popular & produced by Spode until the closure of the company in 2009. The company was founded by Josiah Spode in the late 1760's. (Yes, that's right…Spode has been around for over 250 years!) Different partnerships & names occurred through the years, most notably when “Copeland” came along in 1805 (tho, various company name changes ensued but always kept the Spode brand). The Spode brand name was purchased by Portmeirion in 2009.
