These are a beautiful pair of cufflinks made with very unusual genuine British Indian Army Southern Provinces Mounted Rifles (Madras) volunteer buttons from the era of the First World War, over 105 years ago. This pair of cufflinks is made from two white metal volunteer buttons. The Southern Provinces Mounted Rifles were formed as a volunteer auxiliary force in 1904 and during the First World War volunteers served not only in India but also In East Africa. The cufflinks are made with a swivel back with an attractive diamond pattern on the swivel. They are made using smaller cuff /pocket buttons from a tunic, perfect in size for cufflinks and are 20 mm in diameter.
They represent a unique part of British India and First World War Indian history. The volunteer buttons have been carefully cleaned to bring out original character of the buttons which are very unusual and over 105 years old, whilst highlighting the beautiful details of these original buttons.
