Hand turned artistic closed form bowl

This closed form is made from bradford pear wood. It is approximately 8 5/8 inches at its widest point and is approximately 4 inches tall.

A bark inclusion near the rim was filled with paua abalone. Paua Abalone is a unique species of abalone found only in New Zealand's environmentally pure coastal waters. The interior shell is extremely colorful and exhibits iridescent blues and greens under a bright light.

I sanded it to a fine, smooth surface, then applied a ultra fine grit sanding paste containing walnut oil and bees wax.

Some may choose to display it as an art piece, or some may choose cheapest to store dry goods or fruit.

It would make a wonderful housewarming or wedding gift.
