This wonderful boy's set carries the “Peter Piper” label. Made of what I believe to be linen, it is primarily blue and white with a few red embroidered accents. Two pieces, a shirt and button-on shorts, it is in great condition.
The shirt is buttoned down the front white placket to waist. Vertical lines of striped bias piping frame the placket. A drum major or soldier motif is appliquéd in the stripe for the tall hat with facial features embroidered in navy blue and red. Sleeves are short and straight with a wide pleat at cheapest crown. Cuffs are narrow and white. Collar is white with outer edge piped. Back of shirt is plain.
Shorts are buttoned on to shirt with all matching vintage buttons. Crotch opens with buttons for easy changing. There is no fly opening. In great vintage and original condition, the only flaw is a missing belt as happens with so many of these sets. Size on label is a 2 and that seems correct, but compare dimensions with something that currently fits the child to be sure of the correct fit.
