Stunning antique brown morocco leather set of 3 volumes of Poetical Works of Longfellow. Rare to find these books with this type of covers and this is a complete set. Dated 1879 to 1883.

These book are simply stunning. Embossed covers with gold gilt on the front cover and gold lettering on the spines.

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was an American Poet and these books include his most precious works. And dare i mention the fabulous illustrations.

Each book inside front and back cover is marbled boards with gold details framing the paper. Three sides of the pages are gold. Which when they are stacked, really gives them a stunning appearance.

There are some full page illustrations, each with a tissue guard. Only a handful of the tissues have a fold.
Each volume includes cheapest interesting notes on the illustrations, in the back of the book.

Volume 1 - portrait of the author at the title page with a tissue guard. Dated 1879.
Volume 2 - dated 1880. There is a piece of tissue guard on the wrong page and left a stain - see pic.
Volume 3 - The Complete Prose Works with his Later Poems - Illustrated. Dated 1883. There is a little more wear on this books front and back cover. Also has the portrait and tissue guard at the title page. This volume also includes a Sketch by Octavius Brooks Frothingham - about 50 pages long.

Each volume has wear on the edges of the covers front and back. Please see pictures for more details. There is wear on the spine top and bottom.

The pages are in excellent condition. Each volume has a list of illustrations by the artists name.

Each book measures 12 3/4" x 10" x 2".
