This is a wonderful vintage 1960s mens coat made in Canada under the Bantamac brand name. The piece is made in a mod duffle style of camel coloured wool. It has raglan sleeves, high set wide notched lapels, four patch pockets, two at the chest and one larger one at either side. It has a three button closure, the buttons hidden by a flap, and the neck can also be closed by turning and buttoning the lapels (see photo). The cuffs and pockets are trimmed with brown faux leather / vinyl belts. The interior of the coat is finished in quilted fabric and has a Borg faux fur inner lining for extra warmth.
Label: Bantamac of Canada Ltd. Weather Perfect Made in Canada
Bantamac was founded by Benjamin Breier, a Dutch national, who is credited with being the first to introduce lightweight wind and weather resistant jackets. The Bantamac brand was filed as a trademark in 1949, but Bantamac jackets were used by the US Army and Navy during WWII.
Color: Sandy yellow brown or camel colour
Sizing: Size 38 is indicated on the label, but please rely on the following measurements for fit (compare the measurements to those of a similar coat that you might own and consider leaving space for a jacket):
Shoulders and sleeves: 28” long from the neck seam
Sleeve Inseam: 16 1/4” cheapest long
Chest: 48” around, taken under the arms
Waist: 44” around
Overall length: 33"
Condition: It is in excellent condition - I don't think that this saw any use at all as it is extra crisp and clean.
This is a great coat – quality fabric, vintage mod look, sure to keep you warm!
