Rare find for this antique wooden bottle with matching carved wooden cap with cork and extra large wooden mug. Through history wooden bottles were used for products in the ageing and storage processes along with the extra large wooden mugs used on ships for the unbreakable properties. The wooden bottles were fire heated to sterilize and sap was used as a filler for any open wood grains and the extra large wooden mug was carved from one piece of wood the wood grain on the bottom shows the history of the branch and dowels were used to hold the handle on. This wood bottle with carved cap and extra large mug is a perfect example of those older times from 1500s to the early 1900s. Measurements of the bottle and cap are 13 1/4 inches tall and 4 3/4 inches wide and the mug has measurements of 9 3/4 inches tall 7 inches wide including the handle and 5 inches wide without the handle. Both items are in pretty good condition for their age and use, the mug has cheapest a crack in the bottom and will not hold liquid and also some pitting at the top rim. These items are more for display and not intended for use. Excellent vintage collectibles and hard to find together.
