Needle Felted Gnome Sitting atop a rustic wooden 1 x 3 " spool wrapped with vintage cotton lace.
I felted him out of wool grown here at the farm that I hand dyed if needed. He is 100 percent wool with a white core center . His beard is made of natural colored bluefaced leicester locks collected from my own flock. A felted red hat with a navy twine and a pine cone nd a fluffy ball on top finishes the project. His cheeks are brushed with a little rose blush

This is not a toy and needs to be kept out of reach of pets...they will like it a lot because of the natural fiber

Needle felting is a popular fiber arts craft that creates felt without the use of water. Special needles that are used in industrial felting machines are cheapest used by the artist as a sculpting tool. They in fact have notches along the shaft of the needle that grab the top layer of fibers and tangle them with the inner layers of fibers as the needle enters the wool. Since these notches face down towards the tip of the needle, they do not pull the fibers out as the needle exits the wool. Once tangled and compressed using the needle, the felt can be strong and used for creating jewelry or sculpture. Using a single needle or a small group of needles (2-5) in a hand-held tool, fine details can be achieved using this technique, and it is popular for 2D and 3D felted work
