Ladies antique wood jacket
Circa 1890's ladies' wool floral peplum style jacket
Handmade, no tags/size
This was a museum piece that was deaccessioned
Pale rose/pink background with purple violets/green leaf print in wool fabric
The flowers, buds and leaves have a very authentic look
Purple velvet collar and cuffs
"Leg-o-mutton" style sleeves--just below elbow sleeves are narrow
Front waist with white thread gathering--some stitches loose on left side
Could be restitched
Front around collar has pretty tiny gathering creating a pleated look down front
Back is shaped by a series of pleats which flare out beautifully across back lower half creating a peplum look
Inside/lining is a light brown cloth that looks like a vest in front--closure with metal hook and eyes on vest edges
Lining inside covers from waist up including inside of sleeves, eleven "bones" inside for shaping
Inside seams are beautifully "Pinked"
Measurements-
Waist 22 inches--this measurement based upon size of lining/vest inside
With lining not hooked and jacket on mannikin chest measurement of 33 inches, waist 25 1/2 inches
As with many clothing items of this age, wear/stains/damage is inevitable
-Collar where it folds is dark and shows wear (photo 7)
-There are tiny holes in fabric that are only noticeable if you hold it up to the light, the largest in photo 10
These are the flaws I have observed--there may be cheapest more upon closer exam
Overall, good condition for its age
