This beautiful charcuterie board features figured ash wood with a "river" of silvery epoxy resin. The aluminum color has shimmery highlights as well as darker pockets with less sparkle. The wood used for this board has naturally occurring little holes (thanks bugs!) which have been filled with the same aluminum colored epoxy resin. It is sized at 10"x18", which is plenty large enough for a delicious array of snacks or desserts or propping up in your kitchen for a spot of color.
This board was made in our home garage woodshop. After preparing the wood by removing any lingering bark and clearing out material trapped in knots or bug holes, the epoxy was mixed up with mica powder and poured to form the river shape. The epoxy cured for several days, letting the exothermic reaction of the resin create those gorgeous swirls, until it was time to move to the next phase: so much sanding! This board was sanded to a buttery smooth finish before a blend of a food-safe oil and wax was applied to bring out the wood grain, shine up the epoxy, and provide a layer of protection from cheapest moisture.
The board can be hand-washed with a gentle dish soap, then dried with a towel and left out to finish air-drying. Care instructions will be included with the board. Please do not put the board in the dishwasher, oven, or microwave. We do not recommend cutting on this board as it will damage the epoxy.
