Antique H & C Haviland Limoges "Meadow Visitors" Dessert Plates, Set of 5
A set of five rare antique Haviland dessert plates dating to the late 1800s. Five complementary plates in the Haviland Meadow Visitors pattern, Osier blank. They are a set, but each has a different hand-detailed design. Beautiful translucent porcelain with a wonderful rustic pattern of butterflies and floral grasses, and hand painted accents. The osier blank gives them a basket weave look.
7 1/4" Diameter
The plates are in uniform great condition. One has a slight, dark pit in the glaze and the lower wing of one butterfly is cheapest a lighter shade, perhaps from wear. I just lightened the pit a bit with a damp tissue, so I'm sure it's just a glaze indentation with old dust that will even out with a little pass of a toothbrush - it's not a chip. Absolutely nothing wrong with the others, they are perfect.
I have teacup/saucers and a platter in the same pattern, but I figured it was tempting fate to try to ship them all together; sometimes it seems USPS has a grudge against fragile items. I will pack them super carefully.
