Presented is a large 2.2" double terminated Herkimer nugget from Herkimer, New York City. This beauty has a large Rainbow that can be seen on 2 of the points sides! Rainbows are so hard for me to photograph as they so elusive and often show up unexpectedly! This is truly a beautiful crystal! The point at one end has a rainbow in the tip and is very bright compared to the other end which has some black Anthraxolite in it. This would make an awesome Meditation stone!

ANTHRAXOLITE is black hydrocarbon which is petrified (fossilized) plant life that formed as the crystals were formed in pockets. A high concentration of Anthraxolite in crystals give a lustrous black effect.

HERKIMER DIAMONDS are from Herkimer, NY. True Herkimers are found only in the New York area and are exceptionally clear and bright, although some have black Anthraxolite inclusions. A high concentration of Anthraxolite in these crystals give it a lustrous black effect. Similar shaped crystals from other locations such as Tibet, are sometimes called Herkimers but are more properly called "Herkimer-like". They are not to be confused with the Herkimer crystals that come from from NY. Tibetan DT's are not usually as clear and bright and many have carbon or other inclusions and not Anthraxolite.
