Product code: Antique Candlesticks Scarce EP Silver on cheapest lead
Marked “ BP “ for Britannia Plate, also marked EP on LEAD ! Model number # 2477 on each base. Stands 9.5” high and is 4” diameter at the bottom base. Rarely does one encounter silver on pure lead. Usually the norm would be nickel - silver, brass, copper or even tin or white metal or spelter. My gut feeling was that these were made in the UK or Canada during World War I when brass was needed for munition shells. Therefore these would be dated from about 1915 to 1918. On the other hand these look a little older than 20th century and look to be about 1880's or 1890's. cheapest
