Whitby Jet Brooch, Vintage Victorian cheapest Black Carved Jet Mourning Pin

Antique Whitby cheapest jet brooch, a Victorian pin or mourning brooch. The brooch is hand carved of jet (an igneous mineraloid gemstone) found on the beaches of Whitby, England (in Yorkshire). It's oval with an ornate border, a smooth domed center, and two circular peepholes on either end. The brooch has a newer clasp and can be worn vertically or horizontally. This brooch was purchased in Whitby in the 1980s, but it dates to Victorian times--late 1800s. It's in very good condition.

Size: 1.25 inches wide x 0.8 inches tall x 0.4 inches tall
