This is a Rare and unusual gem grade AAA specimen that is cut into a Lovely Translucent Mint and Light green cabochon.

Prehinite also known as Prehnite is a form of calcium aluminum silicate and has a vitreous mother-of-pearl luster. It most often occurs as rounded or bubbly crystal masses, and commonly forms odd-shaped finger like protrusions with lovely bumps. It is hard to find in large sizes.

Prehinite is named after Colonel Hendrik Von Prehn (1733–1785), a Dutch commander of the military forces of South Africa who brought Prehinite specimens from South Africa to Europe.
