One of our most popular designs, this barrette delivers both whimsy and elegance in an extremely functional package. We call it an abstract butterfly, though others have also likened it to stylized clouds. The loops and swirls are each bent individually and welded into place, not soldered, making the bonds extremely strong. This barrette is made with bronze and nickel silver so it can be worn with any combination of jewelry and complements all colors of hair.
As with all our barrettes, the stick is attached making it both impossible to lose as well as spreading the grip over two points of contact. This gives it a much stronger and more comfortable hold on hair. The nature of the metals we use also allows the user to bend either the stick or the barrette itself in or out to accommodate more or less hair while still retaining enough "springback" to give incredible hold.
Fine or Thick Hair?
Since the stick bends in or out its actually excellent for both! Bent in it can be made snug enough to hold a single piece of satin ribbon. This is especially helpful for people with thin, fine hair that slides out of everything or those who tend to suffer headaches from hair accessories that pull on the scalp.
On the other hand, it bends out enough to accomodate thick heavy hair. I'm talking thick hair you can't hold in a single hand held all day without a headache.
This also allows each barrette to be used in several different ways; it can hold all the hair up, be used to pull back only part, or clasped at the nape in a pony tail.
