*This animal print was originally a limited edition artist card. This working proof remains a rare example of the printmaking etching process. The artist card was cheapest printed as a limited edition of 20 prints and is now sold out. This cow etching was my 2004 fundraising donation to the artist printmaking studio: Open Studio in Toronto, Ontario. The artist card was printed in light brown ink.

Intaglio printmaking techniques:
Burin engraving on a zinc etching plate. Rosin aquatint etching with one nitric acid etch. Drypoint needled border within the aquatinted image indicates the boundaries of the original printed art card. This unique proof is printed with expressively irregular borders and shows none of the embossed plate marks typically associated with contemporary etching because the etching plate was larger than the printmaking paper.

This unique working proof is printed with warm black etching ink.
Printed on warm white, acid free printmaking paper.

Framed Art
Hardwood picture frame is made with reclaimed century old antique lumber. The wood has a rich pronounced grain pattern and preserves the subtle rustic dark and light marks of its vintage past. The wood is sanded very smooth and finished with medium brown stain and a semi gloss wood varnish. This artwork is framed with glass.
Acid Free white mat board and backing materials. Custom picture frame is made by the artist. Framed by the artist.
