Product code: Glass Fire cheapest Grenade Vase
This is an antique fire grenade vase, measuring 6" tall. In EXCELLENT condition. What's a fire grenade?! Back before modern fire extinguishers were invented, glass bottles filled with a fire extinguishing fluid were manufactured. When fire broke out, these bottles were thrown at the base of the fire, shattering. The criss cross lines in the glass bottles ensured the shatter upon impact. These were eventually made in a decorative way, as to be more appealing, and were soon cheapest displayed on mantels & breakfronts in the wealthiest homes. Eventually the fluid was replaced with powder, leading to the eventual development of the more modern version we know. These bottles now just a reminder of earlier times & growth, for fire memorabilia & collectors. All reasonable offers will be considered so please don't hesitate to ask!
