Up for sale is a hand cut, beautifully executed profile silhouette of a Victorian gentleman in period costume of black suit and white high collar. An additional feature of this portrait is the lovely, romantic notation in the bottom right hand corner:

"Forever True I Will Be 18 Years M"

The silhouette is most likely created of paper adhered to thin parchment, surrounded by a black painted mat with gold striped accent, within a period black frame with a gold painted trim (now faded), all under glass.

On the back side is the notation: "Library I Unknown Gentleman" written in ink on the original paper backing, original loops and string for hanging.

One can only guess who this man was; I am afraid we will never know. But he stands as a testament to the fine Victorian art of silhouette creation.
